An anonymous donor recently bought a copy of a book for each student at an under-served school. After reading the first chapter of the book, and leaving them with a cliffhanger ending, I told the kids that they each were getting a free copy of the book. Jaws dropped, and kids sank to the floor where they’d been standing, each with their books open and pages turning to chapter two. One student asked, “I know they’re free, Miss, but how much will we have to pay?” It made my day to explain that free is free. The expression on his face was priceless.

Will you help me give books to more students like this?
